Between a commercial seminar and an academic institution

When we describe our vision to professors, they nod politely — and behind their eyes, one doubt stirs: 'Isn't this just a new species of expensive seminar business?' Few say it aloud, but it is a legitimate doubt. Around medical education there have long been businesses that rent professors' titles as billboards, never measure outcomes, and optimize only for sales.

Let us first admit what should be admitted: we charge tuition, and we market. If education cannot stand as a business, neither quality nor continuity can be sustained — that is our conviction, and there is no reason to hide it. It is why our price is not hidden behind 'contact us' but published: ¥298,000 (provisional).

What separates a commercial seminar from an academic institution is neither price nor scale — it is the structure of governance. Concretely: Who decides content? (Faculty vetted by academic review, not sponsors.) Are pass criteria public? (Our module specifications publish them in advance.) Are outcomes measured and disclosed? (We commit to annual publication of evaluations and learning outcomes.) How are instructors chosen? (Academic review of publications and teaching record — not box-office draw.) And can faculty walk away when something is wrong? (Exit clauses triggered by governance breaches are built into every contract.)

None of this is a declaration; it is documented, verifiable machinery. Sponsor no-go rights are on a public page; the faculty charter is in the Prospectus; what remains undecided sits in the transparency table on our About page. If a skeptical colleague asks, forward those pages as they are. Judging by structure, not words, is the fastest path.

Whatever doubt remains — bring it to the 30-minute dialogue. If there is a question we cannot answer, that is a hole in our design. The professors who find those holes are exactly the ones we hope will join us in the founding period.
